Gay marriage: progression or digression? -- On NPR, today!

I'm on NPR's nationally-broadcast Tell Me More again today, in conversation about the Prop 8 decision -- of course, tell me what you think...

I listened to your radio appearance while editing historic pictures for a post on my blog...http://chamblee54.wordpress.com/2010/08/05/pride-integrity-guts/. Multi tasking is a fine thing.
I saw the post about Miss Choi and Buffy Saint Marie, and I feel like I will have to digest a bit more information, and write about all that.
I have always felt that DADT was much more insidious than gay marriage bans. When Uncle Sam wants young men ( and a draft is men only ) to die in his silly wars, being gay is not a good excuse. You either had to go to Canada, Vietnam, or go the legal resistance route, like W did. I had the good fortune to be born in 1954, and not come of draft age until the draft was over. I would have hated to make that decision, and can see several scenarios how I would have reacted.
I digress. There are no gay shotgun weddings, there is no draft today. The morality of killing women and children eight time zones away ( often by remote control from stateside) is just as putrid as it was when Lt.Calley shoved children into a ditch and shot them.
As you see, I have a few things to resolve. Thank you for this forum. When I recycle this on my blog, at least there will be pretty pictures to make up for the ugly opinions.

The first time I tried to post this I made a mistake and the machine ate the post. Saving a copy of comments on a word document has saved me from grief before.

Chamblee, this is so true:

"The morality of killing women and children eight time zones away ( often by remote control from stateside) is just as putrid as it was when Lt.Calley shoved children into a ditch and shot them."

I see no ugly opinions there at all, my dear...

And yes, I also hate that when the machine destroys my comments -- often because of a voice activation software error, oh no! A Word document to save them, indeed...

Well I don't know about that. Way back in the day when I was a young rebel and my draft number came up now this was 1966 I told them I was a Homosexual. (that was the term then no one used gay) I knew who I was and didn't care if old uncle scam knew or anyone else for that matter. I didn't want them then, would not give them the power to jail me, nor move to Cananda.

I couldn't care less if they were disallowing us to serve in their death machine. Nope not me, make love not war. I had too too much to do to be interrupted by killing folks.

No matter if lgbt or straight killing is killing and it is wrong, war is wrong and those who think otherwise are my enemy.

Being queer is a great excuse. For I do think that queers are very much working for a new day without war, oppression and other put downs by this imperialist, pig government and grabbing all they can society.

Check out our essay over at A Few Queers On The Prowl about DADT.

Love to you Miss Beautiful Mattilda.

Richard, lovely to hear from you -- I was thinking about that angle too -- that the whole gays in the military thing is taking away one of the few ways that people use to be able to get out of the draft -- now, that's progress, oh my!

The killing machine, indeed...
